All I'm Sayin' Pretty Baby...

{La La Love You print by SparklePower}
I have been a Pixies fan since I first heard them back in junior high. Unfortunately, the band broke up around that same time. At any rate, I have always loved "La La Love You" - although, "Gigantic" is by far my absolute favorite song - and this print by Etsy seller SparklePower makes me happy. The 8.5" by 11" giclee print is available in an assortment of color combos - although, I'm partial to the "aqua" or mental-hospital green, as I like to call it.

Today IS Awesome!

Let's start the week off with a positive message, shall we? Sarah Neuburger (of The Small Object) has created this bright, cheery print with a positive message. If you're in a bad mood, stare at this Today is Awesome print for 5 minutes while listening to melodic pop sounds of Belle & Sebastian - I'm pretty sure that combo will snap you out of almost any funk.

Oh, and be sure to check out Neuburger's Etsy shop, which features some other adorable items. My shop favs include the Miniature Mighty Mustache Magnet, the MakeAList To Do Stamp and the I Like To Draw Pencil Pack (which is currently sold out - sad panda.)

Je Regarde L'Art

I'm hoping the only rain I see today is on this lovely screen print by Brussels-based artist Christina Vantzou. I don't speak French (parlo poco italiano), but a quick run through Google translate tells me "je regarde" means "I look." Tres magnifique.

Count Me In

I found this awesome Charlie Number Wall Art in the nursery section of Olli & Lime, but if you ask me, this print is totally suitable for any room in the house.

All The Right Curves

Anyone who frequents my blog knows about my undying appreciation for the ampersand. It's clear from this ampersand print that the folks at a. favorite design adore the curvaceous symbol in its various typographic forms as well. Their 8"x8" letterpress and blind impression print features three ampersands and the text "your curves are sexy."

Art Happens :: Aesthetic Apparatus

There was a time when the walls of my bedroom were covered in gig posters - Sonic Youth, The Cure, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Pavement, Elliott Smith - they were all there. At some point I decided to take them all down and replace them with framed works of art. Then I stumbled upon Aesthetic Apparatus, the brainchild of Dan Ibarra and Michael Byzewski. Ibarra and Byzewski combined their passions for music and screen-printing, creating limited runs of concert posters. When I saw the poster for the New Pornographers (one of my favorite bands), I had to own it. It's now hanging on my wall - framed, of course.

Art Happens :: Ben Jarvis

{photo by Sam from Stereographic}

British silkscreen artist Ben Javens (part of Unseen Agency) has some wonderful screen prints available to purchase on his blog. One of his works (not for sale on his site - bummer) features the first four stanzas of my favorite Emily Dickinson poem, "Hope." Javens also makes totes, pillows, T-shirts and buttons. I want them all!

Word.

Brooklyn-based Paper Jam Press (the brainchild of freelance designer Ariann Orland) produces "hand pulled, short runs of words to live by." My personal favorite is "HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW," the title of Lil Wayne song. The poster's description kills me: "This poster makes the perfect reminder of just how awesome you are. Give one to a friend and they'll be reminded (of just how awesome you are)."
