Tea Time

The fall-like weather we've had of late has me all inspired to curl up on the couch with a cup of hot tea and a chick flick. Additionally, the slight chill in the air has always motivated me to catch up on my correspondence. So, what better way to combine the two activities than to shoot off some snail mail to my friends on these adorable screen-printed tea lover mini cards by UK-based designer Megan Price (aka Etsy seller MrPS). The sets include four cards printed on heavy card stock. Price also makes some super cute shopper tote bags, tea towels and prints - and I love it all!

Yesterday, me and five of my lovely friends got dolled up and headed to San Francisco for an afternoon at Crown & Crumpet, an adorable little tea room located in Ghirardelli Square. The weather was perfect, the company was impeccable, and the atmosphere and decor at Crown & Crumpet was perfection! Pre-tea, we poked around in the little gift shop, which was chock-full of imported British treats and covetable creations by Etsy sellers. Two highlights were this "Let them eat cake" poster by BluLima and these crochet dream catchers by Pretty Little Things. The shop also had British candies, various Crown & Crumpet swag and an assortment of other tea-related gifts and souvenirs. 

In honor of the event, me & the ladies sported crowns that we had fashioned for one another - each crown was uniquely its own, reflecting both the creator and the recipient. Darcey made mine, which featured two blue sparrows above a sea of white swirls - too cute! 

On to the food: everything on the menu looked amazing, but we opted for two orders of the "tea for three," which came with an assortment of sandwiches, house-made scones (served warm with clotted cream & lemon curd - yum!), toasted crumpets, various sweets and several large pots of tea. Everything was delicious - especially the Fig de Blanc tea, a delicate white tea with hints of fig. 

All-in-all, it was the perfect day...and if you get the chance, I highly suggest you visit Crown & Crumpet.

Danish company ferm LIVING has some wonderful graphic tea towels that are sure to inspire some creative genius in the kitchen - or at least compel you to do the dishes more often. 

How Do You Take It?

Suck UK always has interesting home items and gift ideas. One suck item is the MyCuppa Mugs, which feature a "colour matching guide" (similar to Pantone swatches) along the inside rim. The matching guide certainly makes it easier to answer the age-old question: "How do you take your coffee (or tea)?" Simply pour in creamer until the liquid in question matches the desired shade and you're good to go. Options for tea include: Milky, Classic British, Builders Brew and Just Tea. Brilliant? I think so. Apparently, so did everyone else because they're all sold out. The good news is that Suck UK promises to have the mugs back in stock soon.
